2016 Walk to End Alzheimer’s is What’s Happening this Weekend
Part of #WorkHappy is giving to charities and this Saturday, September 10th is the event I give my time and money. It’s the 2016 Walk to End Alzheimer’s. It starts at 9:30 am at the Riverfront Park, S. Beach Street & E. Magnolia Ave, Daytona Beach, FL. This is a personal event at #WorkWebb and a family tradition.
Why I Walk
I walk for Ruthie. Ruthie was my Mom. But she became Ruthie once she forgot she was Mom. I often said to people who thought it very tragic that my Mom couldn’t remember me anymore that I happily traded my Mom knowing me for my Mom no longer knowing she had Alzheimer’s Disease. The day she quietly slipped from the horror of moments of lucidity knowing what she was losing to that place where it was just all gone. I read a quote recently from #SethRogen “I think until you see it [Alzheimer’s] first hand, it’s kind of hard to conceive how brutal it is.” It was one of the more poignant things I ever read. So on point. Alzheimer’s is painful to watch.
